Accelerating the development of Celtic Sea floating offshore wind
Wave Hub Ltd is currently in the process of transitioning to a strategic role, where it will work in partnership with private developers. The company aims to become a focal point for the Celtic Sea floating offshore wind (FLOW) cluster, helping seize the opportunity to develop this fast-growing sector.
Until now, Wave Hub Ltd's core role has been to manage the Wave Hub test facilities and facilitate testing of a range of offshore technologies including large scale wave energy devices, wave energy arrays, floating wind, hybrid wind/wave devices, major subcomponents and associated subsea equipment.
With the planned divestment of the Wave Hub offshore assets to private sector developers in 2020, Wave Hub Ltd’s future focus will be on:
Connected to the grid, Wave Hub is the world’s most advanced offshore renewables test and evaluation facility. The site is located off the north coast of Cornwall and has a the potential for up to 40MW of installed floating offshore wind or wave capacity.
